The messenger service WhatsApp and the picture service Instagram failed in several countries on Friday. At the portal Allestoerungen.de, the error messages from users for both services from the Facebook group skyrocketed in the early evening.
Numerous malfunction reports were also received at the Downdetector malfunction portal. Accordingly, there have been almost a million cases in which users reported problems with Instagram. 20,000 users reported problems with WhatsApp.
Facebook itself was apparently not affected by the disruptions, neither the Facebook website nor the Facebook app. The company confirmed to the Reuters news agency that there were almost a million error messages on Instagram. Several teams have been set to solve the problem, according to a tweet from Facebook Gaming. The malfunction has now been resolved.
